Well, it is as the title says. X3 I am so proud of this, you have no idea. I tried out a new style for shading, and actually completed an anthro without it coming out looking wonky. Plus she just looks so dang cute!
I referenced a pose from Slugbox's recent drawing of Cass:
This is a great pic! I find that one of the hardest things in anthro art is striking the right balance between human and animal-too much of one or the other can be unsettling or awkward. But everything here works: the mixture of hooves and hands; the forward slope of the body and the face/haunches are all very appealing. And I like how even though she's half-naked this still feels like a figure study and not hentai. Her personality is so dynamic that we engage with her persona instead of just being invited to ogle her. She's just so cute!
I have to say, Vani, I love your use of colors and shadow/shine. I adore the way you drew the upper portion of her body, but the one thing that I can't stop staring at is the crease for her belly and ribs. I totally see that you were trying to do a Slugbox-esque style, but if I may make a suggestion... ease up on the line accentuation for the belly and ribcage. She looks a tiny bit pot-bellied, so maybe you want to evenly distribute curvature on both sides of her torso? It just looks a little odd to me. Don't be afraid to play around with darker shadows and colors to accent the markings where her ribs and stomach muscles should be showing instead of lines. It makes it look more natural.
Amazing shot, though~ Keep practicing.
